Bizarre Double-DUI Arrest in Western Pennsylvania

As a DUI attorney in State College, Pennsylvania, I’ve seen a fair share of unusual cases and instances involving alcohol. Recently, however, a DUI arrest n Pennsylvania stuck out as one of the most bizarre I’ve ever come across.

A recent article from The Sentinel describes what basically is a double-DUI; police say a western Pennsylvania couple was driving drunk, in the same night, after they switched seats just before being pulled over.

The couple, a thirty-three-year-old man and twenty-four-year-old woman who live together in New Sewickley, Pennsylvania, both faced charges of drunk driving.

Police saw the man swerving before pulling into a parking lot, where he switched seats with the woman. Moments later, the police pulled the car over with her at the wheel.

Both drivers smelled like alcohol and were incapable of safe driving, according to police. I do think it is important to note, however, that although the man’s BAC exceeded the Pennsylvania limit, the woman’s was slightly below.

This is by far one of the most unusual DUI cases in Pennsylvania I have ever seen. To ensure safe passage home for themselves and other drivers, the couple should have either designated one person as the sober driver, brought a trusted friend as a designated driver, or called a taxi.

If you are ever in a DUI situation in Pennsylvania, contact an experienced DUI attorney right away. The longer you wait, the more difficult it may be to argue your case. Be sure to find an experienced attorney, as conviction of a DUI can carry severe implications for your future.
